The fourteenth International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR) wrapped up in Rio de Janeiro after a week of AI presentations, debates, and research showcases, including presentations from Apple (via TechCrunch). Apple revealed advancements and research across multiple areas of machine learning, solidifying its presence in the AI community.

Shares of Micron and Sandisk jumped following a Melius Research report projecting strong demand for memory through the end of the decade, citing increased usage in AI and data centers (according to EINPresswire).

College students are increasingly altering their choice of major in an attempt to find “AI-proof” careers (Bridger Beal-Cvetko reports for KSL). Students acknowledge the difficulty with predicting an “AI-proof” job field, noting the job market could shift substantially before they graduate, but are still reacting to fears of job displacement.

The UNL College of Engineering hosted Husker AI Days in April, featuring workshops and networking opportunities for faculty, staff, and students with industry professionals from firms including Google, MathWorks, Microsoft, and OpenAI. The Husker AI Days event, according to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, facilitated discussions and explorations of artificial intelligence academic research topics and employment pathways.

A Utah congressman is advocating for the removal of AI from children's toys (reports KSL's Bridger Beal-Cvetko). The specific reasons and legislative proposals were not detailed, but the concern centers around the potential risks associated with AI integration in children's toys.

Kelli Vukelic's “CEO Leadership Rewired”, according to EIN Presswire, guides leaders as artificial intelligence drives changes in the business landscape and it outlines how leaders should align purpose and performance.
