Europe is betting that breakthroughs in quantum computing could help it leapfrog US dominance in AI, Tekedia reported, pointing to coordinated public investment through initiatives such as the EU's Quantum Flagship program and national strategies in Germany, France and the Netherlands. Quantum systems, which use qubits that can occupy multiple states at once, could offer advantages in optimization and machine learning as AI models grow more computationally demanding.
Robotics is moving from experiment to necessity in Canadian greenhouses and orchards, Digital Journal reported, citing systems such as the Guelph Intelligent Greenhouse Automation System that use machine vision and deep learning to identify ripe produce and guide delicate picking mechanisms under variable conditions.
