San Diego Unified Curbs Classroom Screens as AWS Backs Nine African Startups
San Diego Unified School District leaders proposed a policy to limit technology and reduce passive screen time in classrooms, News Pub reported, including bans on video-streaming platforms like YouTube and non-instructional gaming on district devices, alongside continued evaluation of emerging tools such as AI. Board President Richard Barrera said the aim is to ensure technology serves students rather than the other way around, with the first changes set for the start of the 2026-27 school year.
Amazon Web Services selected nine African organizations for the fourth cohort of its Social Entrepreneur Accelerator, Business Today Kenya reported, marking the largest continental representation yet in the program, which offers training and access to cloud and AI tools. The founders, from Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Cameroon and South Africa, are among 42 social enterprises from 16 countries in a program developed with Deloitte.
