India Pivots Digital India Toward Chips and 45,000 GPUs as Instagram Tests Algorithm Controls
As Digital India marks its 11th anniversary, the Indian government signaled a decisive pivot to artificial intelligence and semiconductors, approving investments of Rs 1.64 lakh crore across 12 semiconductor projects and standing up a national AI compute facility with more than 45,000 GPUs, according to Complete Ai Training. The IndiaAI Mission, backed by an outlay of over Rs 10,372 crore, has 15 large and small language models in development, and the AI Kosh repository now holds over 12,500 datasets and 307 AI models.
Instagram chief Adam Mosseri announced tests of four new ways for users to steer recommendations through the app's Your Algorithm feature, including in-stream topic controls between Reels and conversational prompts for refining the feed, per Socialmediatoday.
