Meta intends to open-source its next-generation AI models and plans on spending over $60 billion on infrastructure in 2025, betting that offering powerful technology for free will fortify its advertising empire while competitors charge for similar tech, according to reports.

Sanlam appointed Theo Mabaso as group chief AI officer, marking a key moment for AI development within the company, reports Gadget.

UT San Antonio celebrated the opening of 'San Pedro II', a 180,000-square-foot facility that will offer courses in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, computing, and data science, placing it in the heart of downtown’s San Pedro Creek Innovation District.

Clemson University will host a live “AI at Clemson” introductory forum on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 3:30 PM to introduce Clemson’s human-centered approach to AI, according to Clemson News.

The News Media Guild, who represents AP journalists, said over 120 staff members received buyout offers this past Monday amidst wider AI transformation within journalism.
