ByteDance Claims New Scaling Law for AI Agents as Singapore Moves to Make 60,000 Accountants AI-Ready

Researchers at TikTok parent ByteDance say they have discovered a new scaling law for artificial intelligence agents, finding that agents can double their learning speed every three months by interacting with real-world environments over extended periods, according to the South China Morning Post. The Seed AI team's paper introduces EdgeBench, a benchmarking suite of 134 ultra-long-horizon tasks, and lands as figures like OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy warn that brute-force pretraining cannot last forever and Epoch AI projects publicly available human-generated text could be depleted within six years.

Singapore's Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and the Infocomm Media Development Authority launched AIxAccountancy, an AI Fluency Programme aiming to make 60,000 accountancy and corporate finance professionals AI-ready over three years, per Ebnewsdaily. It is the first training programme developed under a national initiative that aims to train 100,000 non-tech professionals, and more than 20,000 people had already expressed interest before launch.

Tech Crunch published a living glossary of common AI terms, from AGI, which OpenAI CEO Sam Altman once described as the "equivalent of a median human that you could hire as a co-worker," to AI agents and other vocabulary now routine in product meetings, pitches, and panels.

And in Zimbabwe, Vice President Mohadi cautioned that AI must not replace critical thinking, The Herald reported.
